Barnbarroch Pottery, a working and professional workshop
for studio ceramics, was set up in 1978 by Christine and Rodger Smith.
Christine specialises in decorated earthenware, working both on
and off the wheel. Her primary interest is in decoration and form,
which is blended together to produce work that is both functional
and enjoyable to use. Based in Dumfries & Galloway, this pottery
craft workshop has provided both the local enthusiasts, businesses
and the regions tourists with a unique and friendly source of ceramics,
both off-the-shelf and to commission.

Christine makes a range of domestic earthenware using traditional
slipware techniques as well as a variety of one off pieces - from
cheerfully decorated salad bowls and hanging plates, to thrown and
assembled animal forms. The inspiration for the pottery comes mainly
from birds, animals and human activities, which are incorporated
into colourful, lively and often humorous designs.

Barnbarroch Pottery has an attractive showroom attached
to the workshop, which displays Christine's work all year round;
from large contemporary sculptural ceramics to functional decorative
tableware pottery. For those unable to make the rewarding journey
to Galloway, Scotland, please visit our domestic
range for a guide to our current range of decorated tableware
and our specials for one off pieces
and to view past work.
All the pottery on this site is available to buy or commission if
the item is out of stock. We'd be very happy to keep in touch with
you if you'd like to sign up to our mailing list. |
